One cutting table. Since 1921.

A suit for
the life you lead.

Tell Ruth what you do all day.
She’ll take it from there.

We cut and make your suit by hand, here on Savile Row. Four people, about sixty hours, and a paper pattern that is yours for ever.

Your first suit, from the beginning
01 / Oak. 1921. Still in daily use.The pale scar is from a piece of window glass in 1940. Arthur wouldn’t have it planed out. Ruth still cuts over it.

If this is your first time

“You don’t need to know what you want. You need to know what you do all day. I’ll work out the rest.”Ruth Pellow · Head cutter

You can ask
what it costs.

You don’t have to find a polite way of doing it. A two-piece suit starts at £6,400.

Cloth can change that figure. Ruth will tell you before you choose, not after. You pay half when you order and half when you collect.

And you don’t need a vocabulary for cloth, a view on lapels or a convincing reason for wanting a good suit. A wedding, a new job, or simply being ready for one is enough to start a conversation.

A story from the ledgers

The suit that missed its funeral.

1994 → 2023

In 1994, a customer ordered a dark grey suit to be buried in. He paid in full. Then wore it to every wedding in his family instead.

In 2023, he came back, aged 91. Ruth took out his old pattern and measured him again.

“For the actual funeral, the first one’s worn out.”

He ordered another.

Your pattern
is still downstairs.

Twenty years is no reason to start from scratch.

We keep every customer’s paper pattern. Yours will be in the cellar, ready for another suit, plus whatever the years have added.

If you’ve inherited a Pellow & Vane suit, or your own could use some attention, ring Ruth. Alterations to our suits are free for the life of the suit. Other makers’ bespoke suits can be altered by arrangement.
